ANTHONY PARISI
Music is an expression of the soul; a blending of ideas—from the most esoteric to the most inane—and of emotions—from the most passionate to the most humorous. There is music that haunts, that heals, that beckons, that captivates, and that speaks to the listener and becomes so much more than the sum of its parts. There is also music that is just plain fun. It is the rare individual who can do all of that well. Such an individual is Anthony Parisi.
Creating a sampling of musical styles running the gamut from pop to hard-rockl, Parisi cites influences such as The Who, The Kinks, "80s bands", Marshall Crenshaw, the Knack and The Beatles. Grinning, he admits, "It’s always been the Beatles!"
The title track of the album, BIG FAT BABY, is an example of Parisi’s catchy songwriting abilities with hooks gallore, yet filled with lyrical silliness and crowd favorte lines such as, “Your a big piece of crazy”.
The second track of the album, Warm, is a song that grabs a hold of your every sense and explodes inside your heart. Written when Parisi decided to take a bad time of his life and make something good out of it, Warm "dropped into my lap" says the modest musician. The compelling lyrics combine with a passionate, driven rock beat to tell the tale of someone hoping—and daring to believe—that the bleak, numbing cold that can grip your heart at the worst of times, will someday thaw and bring with it the warmth of hope and love.
Anthony, a self proclaimed guitar junkie, plays all of the guitars, sings all lead and background vocals, drums, keyboards and bass.
When performing live, Anthony is backed up by his mighty band, SIDECAR MONKEYSHINES, comprised of Chris Bader on Bass & Mick Green on drums.
